This class will be a hands on Introductory to Creative lighting with Speedlights

We will have a gorgeous model in a wedding dress that you will be able to photograph and you will be able to walk away with these amazing images for your portfolio!

One of our wedding couples requested that we take Bonnie and Clyde inspired shoot of them. (Or maybe I shouldn’t use the word “shoot” here). And, of course, we said, YES! How fun will that be?! Such a creative idea. I love it!
So, here are some photos we chose from all the research we did. They lived such an outlandish lifestyle and with a reception from strangers that would never fly nowadays. Quite an interesting human sociology study! One thing I was surprised about is that they were very family oriented and would visit family any time they could. In fact, that’s how they finally were caught.
Her sense of style and their sense of adventure and living life how they want to the fullest regardless of the rules is the charming part of their story that we are all drawn to and something we hope to capture in our photo shoot.
The shoot is scheduled for December 7th so now the hard part is having to wait until then! 1f609

Finding indoor areas to take a creative wedding dress photo can be a challenge. These are photos of Brandon running around the church with a wedding dress looking for a good location for a photo. He has a big smile on his face. The storm today was intense with 30 MPH winds, rain dumping down, tree branches falling…the works, so outdoors wasn’t an option. Luckily the church sanctuary was beautiful plus we had a gorgeous dress to take photos of…more photos coming soon.
We are home now and bumping into everything trying to navigate in the dark. I have on about 5 layers of clothes and am cozy under a pile of blankets trying to stay warm as the evening continues to get colder and our house heat is reliant on electricity. I’m typing quickly. Must sign off now to save phone battery as our power is still out at home after 9 hours now!

Our Glamour Maternity Photos in Seattle with the beautiful Miss Jessica turned out amazing! Let us loose in a photography studio with lots of lights, fur and a beautiful girl and look out! 1f609 These photos are already greatly appreciated by Jessica but will be cherished by her little baby girl forever as her very first photo session with her mama. We are so happy Jessica was so eager to have her photos taken and now she is too.

Hope and Charles had an incredible wedding. The weather was horrifically stormy. The wind blew the rain sideways, the trees were swaying, guests were running from the parking lot to the lodge, truly a sight! Once in Salish Lodge everyone was warm and snug and the weather no longer mattered. Everyone was just so happy to be there. The bride and groom’s joy was contagious. The bright yellow wedding accents cut through the grey outdoors to create a warm glow. Salish’s signature honey collected on site was given to and graciously received by every guest. Although I knew Hope was a very easy going person I still worried about how the photo session in front of the falls would go. Her bright yellow boots to match the yellow umbrellas were perfect!It took forever to get ready for the shot. Hair flying around, coats flapping in the wind, and then umbrella’s flipping inside out! I thought they would fly off the railing and into the falls! Hope was so happy it all just made her laugh. She was cracking up. She set the mood and we all were cracking up and clicking like crazy. We then yelled, “let’s go!” so they could hear us and we all ran back to the cozy Salish Lodge for their big, beautiful wedding.

Fall Family Photo Session Seattle

What a beautiful family! The poor little guy had a cold but still hung in there like a champ for us. He’s so super sweet. It was a beautiful, crisp day in Seattle. We can’t wait until next time we get to do photos for this family!

While in San Francisco we left the park at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge and wound around windy roads on our way to a really beautiful sandy beach that Matt had heard about for more photos. We passed this grove of trees and immediately Brandon and I had a vision. These trees would be a perfect backdrop to a moody, nature photo.

We parked and ran across big fields to get to these trees. I hid behind a tree close to Emily and Matt pointing our speed light at them. (Sometimes I should be wearing tree colored camo.) Brandon stood far away yelling directions…”a little to the left, now walk, look at him, did the flash go off?” We could barely hear him. We were actually cracking up wondering what he was saying. In the end it was worth the detour and all of the “what?!, what’s hollered back and forth.
This photo is cool before editing but after Brandon’s mad skills it’s truly amazing!
